With just seven matches remaining in the 2012 regular season for the 16th-ranked Mount Union volleyball team, the Purple Raiders play Capital in Alliance Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Raiders beat John Carroll, 3-0, on the road Tuesday night in straight sets to capture its fourth Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season. It was the third consecutive shutout of an OAC opponent for Mount Union.

Capital entered the week at 9-16 overall and 1-2 in the OAC.  Last year in Bexley, Ohio, Mount Union outlasted the Crusaders in five sets.  The Raiders and Crusaders have not met in Alliance since 2008, when Mount Union beat Capital in three sets.

The Raiders entered the week fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.215) and lead the OAC in opponent's hitting percentage (.125).  John Carroll ranks eighth and sixth in the respective categories.

In addition, Mount Union has several individual players near the top of the OAC's statistical categories.  Junior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) ranks third in the conference in kills, averaging 2.97 kills per game (223 total).  Sophomore Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) is fifth (2.77 kpg/208 total).  Senior Kristen Gromes' (Navarre/Fairless) 30 service aces place her sixth in the OAC and she also ranks eighth in digs (4.85 dpg/364 total).  Sophomore Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) is eighth in the OAC in assists (399 total/5.70 apg).
