Volleyball: Swartz Named OAC Coach of the Year
Leigh Ann Swartz was named the 2012 OAC Volleyball Coach of the Year. It is the second time she has received the award.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union head volleyball coach Leigh Ann Swartz has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the second time in her career.

She was the recipient of the award during her first season after guiding the Purple Raiders to a 22-10 record in 2006.

Now in her seventh year, Swartz led Mount Union to a 24-5 record in the 2012 regular season and its first-ever OAC regular season championship.  The Raiders also advanced to the OAC Tournament finals for the second consecutive season to clinch their third trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last four years.

Swartz's 2012 Raiders also were ranked 10th in the final AVCA Coaches Poll, their highest ranking in school history.  Mount Union's nine OAC regular season wins set the school record and its 24 victories during the regular season were the most since 2007.

Swartz is 171-56 during her seven-year tenure at Mount Union.

The Raiders will participate in the NCAA Tournament later this week and find out their opponent and location tomorrow morning (Nov. 5) at 11 a.m.  The NCAA will broadcast the Selection Show on NCAA.com.  Fans can tune in by clicking here.
