Volleyball: Mount Union's Snyder and Gromes Earn AVCA All-American Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Mount Union sophomore Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) and senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III All-American teams.

Snyder, an All-American Second Team selection, was the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year as she finished her sophomore season with a team-leading 338 kills, while ranking second on the team with 399 digs, and third with 74 blocks.

Gromes, an All-American Honorable Mention pick, averaged a team-best 5.26 digs per set. She also has a team-best 49 service aces and is one of five Purple Raiders that played in every set this season. Gromes garnered first team All-OAC honors and Capital One Academic All-District VII honors.

The duo helped Mount Union capture the team's first regular season OAC championship in 2012. The 27 wins for the Raiders are the second-most in a season as Mount Union reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season, and third time in program history.

The pair also join Julie Radigan (2011), Melissa Mahnke (2008, 2009), Sarah Parker (2009), and Jess DiCarlo (2003) as Mount Union players to earn All-America honors.
