Mount Union women's volleyball players senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless), junior Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) and sophomores Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) and Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) earned Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors.
A mechanical engineering and art double major with a GPA of 3.89, Gromes earned academic All-OAC honors for the second time. She was named to the All-OAC First-team and was honored as the conference's Libero of the Year. Gromes averaged a team best 5.26 digs per set and was named as an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
A biology major with a GPA of 3.74, Webb earned academic All-OAC honors for the first time, and was named second team All-OAC for a second straight year. Webb finished second of the team with 306 kills (fifth in the OAC) and also ranked seventh in the conference with 2.73 kills per set.
An undecided major with a GPA of 4.00, Schleich earned academic All-OAC honors for the first time, and had a team high 533 assists on the season. The Purple Raiders as a team averaged 11.09 assists per set, which ranked third in the conference.
An undecided major with a GPA of 3.87, Woodard earned academic All-OAC honors for the first time. Woodard ranked second on the team with 412 assists and averaged 5.57 assists on the season.
Mount Union won its first ever OAC regular season championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third time in history. They defeated Medaille (N.Y.) in the first round, and advanced to play #2 Calvin in the second round, but were defeated in a closely fought five set match.
