Gromes and Snyder to Compete For The USA D-3 Volleyball All Star Team in Brazil June 10-19

Mount Union senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) and sophomore Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) have been selected by the USA Sports Tours and Events to play for the USA D-3 Volleyball All Star Team in Brazil from June 10-June 19.

Gromes and Snyder were two of 12 volleyball players chosen to represent the USA as players and ambassadors of the sport. The team is comprised of All Region, All American and All conference players. 

Gromes, is the first Purple Raider to be selected to the CAPITAL ONE Academic All-America Teams in two different sports in one year as she was selected to the volleyball and softball Second Teams. Gromes was selected to the America Volleyball Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region First team this past season and to the AVCA Honorable Mention All-America team.

The senior was selected as the OAC Libero of the year as she led the team in digs with 631 (5.26/set) and service aces with 49 (0.41/serve). She finished on the school's all-time career leaders list in digs at sixth place with 1,452.

Snyder was selected to the AVCA All-American Second Team and was the OAC Player of the Year. She led the team in kills with 338 (2.82/set), in points with 415 (3.5/set) and led the team with 13 double-doubles on the season.

Gromes and Snyder helped Mount Union win the OAC regular-season title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history.
