No. 9 Volleyball Takes on Muskingum in New Concord Tuesday

Mount Union's women's volleyball team, ranked No. 9 in the nation (Oct. 15), travels to New Concord, Ohio to take on Muskingum Tuesday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.

The Purple Raiders enter the game Tuesday with an 24-3 overall record and is 5-0 in OAC play. The Fighting Muskies enter at 10-12 overall and have a 1-4 mark in the OAC.

Juniors Power the Raiders Over the Crusaders
The Raiders defeated Capital in three straight sets, (25-12, 25-17, 25-18) Saturday, October 19 in Columbus as junior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) led Mount Union with eight kills and 14 digs. Junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) recorded 30 digs. Junior Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverlead) notched 14 assists as junior Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) chipped in 12 assists.

Muskingum Falls to John Carroll 3-1 on the Road
On Friday, October 18th in University Heights, the Fighting Muskies took the first set from the Blue Streaks with a 25-19 win. John Carroll stormed back to defeat Muskingum 25-23, 25-21 and 25-8 to take the match 3-1. Muskingum was led by Katie Hunt, Brooke Scott and Hanna Rose who each tallied eight kills in the match. Rose notched 13 digs, Kim Seitter recorded 32 digs as Kaleigh Hendrix dished out 16 assists.

Raiders Capture the Muskies for a 3-0 Win in 2012
Mount Union defeated Muskingum 3-0 (25-20, 25-5, 25-12) in Alliance last year as junior Mel Patterson (Mentor/Lake Catholic) and Snyder led the Raiders each with nine kills. Snyder recorded 11 digs as Mastroine added 16 of her own. Sophomore Kristen Kayser (Oregon/Clay) notched team high 21 assists with Schleich at 13.

Muskingum was led by Rose who had five kills and Seitter who had 20 digs.
