NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Mount Union's women's volleyball team, ranked No. 9 in the nation, defeated Muskingum 3-0 on Tuesday night in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at the Recreation Center on the campus of Muskingum University.
The Purple Raiders improve to 25-3 overall and 6-0 in the OAC as the Fighting Muskies fall to 10-13 and 1-5 in the OAC.
In the 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 sweep of the Muskies, the Raiders were led by junior Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) who notched 12 kills and 10 digs. Junior Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) recorded 20 digs as freshman Allison Twining (Perrysburg/Findlay) chipped in 11 kills.
Juniors Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) and Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) each tallied double digit assists as Schleich had 27 assists and Woodard had 14. Sophomore Kara Berger (Mentor/Mentor) recorded four blocks for the Raiders.
Muskingum was led by Alexa Abrams who recorded 11 digs and 11 assists in the loss. Katie Hunt and Brooke Scott each notched nine kills as Hanna Rose recorded 11 digs. Kim Seitter tallied 19 digs as Kaleigh Hendrix dished out 16 assists.
Mount Union returns home on Saturday, October 26th for homecoming weekend to take on Otterbein at 4:00 p.m. in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.
