Volleyball: No. 25 Mount Union Gets a Pair of Sweeps Friday in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- The No. 25 ranked Mount Union volleyball team starts the weekend off with a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Brooklyn (N.Y.) and Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) at the Carnegie Mellon Double Tree Invitational Friday in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Against Brooklyn (N.Y.), Mount Union scored set wins of 25-4, 25-7, and 25-11. Sophomore Brooke Knollman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) led the team in kills with 13. Junior Emma Mathieson (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) added 7 kills and led in digs with 6. Freshman Raven Hood (Monroe, Mich./Airport) led the Purple Raiders in assists with 18. 

Mount Union took down Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) with set scores of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-18. Knollman led in kills again with 11 while sophomore Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Falls) was right behind her with 10 kills and also led in digs with 8. Sophomore Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) led the Raiders in assists dishing out 21.

The Raiders are back in Pittsburgh, Pa. tomorrow to take on Stevenson at 3 pm and No. 20 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) at 5 pm.
