Volleyball: #25 Mount Union Splits at Carnegie Mellon Invite

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- No. 25 Mount Union split a pair of volleyball matches at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.

The Purple Raiders defeated Stevenson, 4-1 before falling 2-3 to host Carnegie Mellon (Pa.). The Raiders went 3-1 on the weekend and now stand 11-6 on the season.

In the match against Stevenson, Brooke Knollman (Powell/Olentangy) led the Raiders with 9 kills while Mallory Sliman (Amherst/Amherst Steele) was right behind her with 8. Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) dished out 25 assists for Mount Union while Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) led in digs with 23.

Leading the way for Mount Union against Carnegie Mellon was Morgan Chapman (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Falls) and Knollman with 16 and 15 kills respectively. Schenk added 42 assists while Baird had 26 digs and Chapman right behind her with 20. 

Mount Union will start conference play next Saturday in Columbus against Capital at 1:30 pm.
