Volleyball: Mount Union Hosts Marietta Tuesday; Annual Dig For the Cure Game

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's volleyball team welcomes Marietta to the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex on Tuesday at 7pm for the annual Dig for the Cure game.

Dig For the Cure:

Dig for the Cure is a program that started in 2003 that has raised over $300,000 the last five years for breast cancer research. Last year at the Dig for the Cure event, the volleyball team raised over $800 to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Money was raised through 50/50 tickets, t-shirt sales and the generous donations of those who attended.

Scouting Mount Union:

The Purple Raiders (12-6, 1-0 OAC) are coming off their first conference win of the season Saturday at Capital. Mount Union won in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-10, and 25-11.

For the season, Brooke Knollman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) leads the Raiders with 159 kills, Riley Schenk (Lorain/Amherst Steele) has a team-best 392 assists and Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) tops the squad with 279 digs.

Scouting Marietta:

Marietta (8-10, 1-0 OAC) has dropped two of its last three matches. The Pioneers are led by Devin Walter with 146 kills on the season, Julia Moskaluk has 316 assists while Mary Ervin is leading in digs with 308.
