Volleyball: Mount Union Picked Second in OAC Preseason Coaches Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Mount Union's volleyball team was picked second in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll that was announced on Tuesday.

Mount Union received 67 points and a first place vote to sit behind #22 Ohio Northern, picked to be at the top of the OAC with 80 points and eight first place votes. Last season's top pick, Heidelberg, falls just behind the Purple Raiders with 65 points, while Baldwin Wallace received 59 points and the other first place vote.

Head coach Melissa Mahnke is entering her third year at Mount Union has a strong group of veterans returning, including six lettermen and four starters for the 2017 season.

The Raiders finished the 2016 season third in the conference with a 19-9 overall record and 7-2 in the OAC.

The volleyball team opens up their 2017 season as hosts of the Mount Union Invitational with their first match against Allegheny (Pa.) on September 1st in Alliance.
