Cleveland, OH – The Mount Union volleyball team defeated Case Western Reserve (5-3) Wednesday night at the Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland.
All three sets were tight and went back and fourth as neither team led by more than five points. Mount Union pulled ahead and went on to win three straight (25-21, 26-24, 25-20).
The Purple Raiders (9-0) were led on offense by Madelin DiBease (Perry/Perry) and Brooke Knollman (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) as they racked up 12 and 11 kills, repsectively. The Raiders had 48 kills total, coming off of Riley Schenk's (Lorain/Amherst Steele) 36 assists. Schenk is now averaging 9.86 assists per set.
On defense, DiBease protected the court with 10 digs, followed by Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) and Elise Nickoli's (Norwalk/St. Paul) eight. Kyleigh Jackson (Galloway/Westlan) and Marlee Peck (Homeworth/Marlington) added three blocks a piece to the defense.
Mount Union will head to Greencastle, Indiana to compete in the DePauw University Tiger Invitational on Friday, September 15th and Saturday, September 16th.
