Women's Volleyball: Raiders Picked Third in OAC Preseason Coaches Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's volleyball team was picked third in the Ohio Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll that was announced Tuesday.

The Purple Raiders received 62 points in the poll which was 12 points behind second place Otterbein, with 74 points and three first place votes. No. 19 ranked Ohio Northern tops the poll with 79 points and the remaining seven first place votes.

Entering her fourth season as head coach at Mount Union, Melissa Mahnke brings back six letterwinners while welcoming nine newcomers. 

In 2017, the Raiders finished third in the conference with a 7-2 record after posting an overall mark of 25-5.

Mount Union opens the 2018 season Friday, August 31, hosting the Mount Union Invitational with matches against Wooster (4 p.m.) and Denison (8 p.m.) at the MAAC.
