Women's Volleyball: Raiders Start Season 2-0 at Mount Union Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's volleyball team opened the 2018 season with a pair of wins over Wooster and Denison Friday at the Mount Union Invitational.

Junior middle-hitter Marlee Peck (Homeworth/Marlington) led the way for the Purple Raider offense with a career-high 14 kills against Wooster and then seven more against Denison.

Also with double-digit kills were senior middle Kyleigh Jackson (Galloway/Westland) and sophomore outside-hitter Madelin DiBease (Perry/Perry), recording 12 and 10, respectively, against Denison.

Most of those kills came off assists from junior setter Carly Stepic (Cleveland/Holy Name) who had career highs of 28 and 34 in each of the three-set victories.

Senior libero Allison Baird (North Royalton/North Royalton) tabbed a total of 31 digs, with a team-high of 22 in game two against Denison.

Mount Union continues their season-opening weekend Saturday with matches against Grove City (Pa.) and Thiel (Pa.).
