NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's volleyball team fell to Muskingum (24-6, 7-2 OAC) Tuesday in Ohio Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.
Muskingum was led by Brooke Fatheree's 13 kills and 10 digs.
First set, the Raiders threw two quick points up on the board but Muskingum would take a commanding 14-7 lead. A 6-1 run byb Mount Union would cut Muskingum's lead to 15-13 but that would be as close as the Raiders would get as the Muskies would take the first set 25-17.
A 3-0 start for Muskingum soon turned into a 7-2 lead. Mount Union responded to cut the deficit to 10-8 and then back-to-back service aces by DiBease tied the set at 10 all. Several rallies later, Muskingum regained the lead at 15-11 and with Mount Union pushing to chip away would hold a two-point lead over the Raiders through 18-16. A series of blocks and service aces sustained their lead as a 7-0 run put away the second set, 25-16.
Mount Union established their first lead since the opening set, starting off 6-2. A 10-0 charge for Muskingum put them back on top 12-6 before Mount Union get another point. Now leading 12-7, Muskingum extended their lead to as large as 21-13. Mount Union would continue to try and hold off the Muskies, but the third set would end in favor of Muskingum 25-19.
The Raiders conclude the 2018 season with an overall record of 22-6 and a conference record of 5-4.
