Women's Volleyball: Mount Union Pulls a Clean Sweep At Penn-State Behrend Tournament

ERIE, Pa. - The Mount Union women's volleyball swept Fredonia (N.Y.) and Bethany (W. Va.) on Friday at the Penn-State Behrend Tournament. 

The Purple Raiders move to 5-2 overall after defeating Fredonia (N.Y.) 25-11, 25-15, 25-10. Mount Union went on to defeat Bethany (W. Va.) 25-7, 25-8, 26-24.

Sophomore Maria Ellison (Alliance Marlington) led the way in the first match with eight kills, while freshman Mollie Thomas (Massillon) totalled nine assists. On the defensive end, freshman Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) recorded 11 digs and senior Bethany Matuska (Pickerington / Bishop Hartley) had a career high eight blocks. 

In the second match, junior Madelin DiBease (Perry) had a team high 12 kills, off of freshman Katie May's (Indpendence) 17 assists. Freshman Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) again showed up for Mount Union on the defensive end with 21 digs. 

The Purple Raiders continue play tomorrow with a double header against Penn-State Behrend (Pa.) and Westminster (Pa.).
