ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's women's volleyball team went 1-1 after hosting Wilmington and Wittenberg Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (18-5, OAC 3-0) started off the day defeating Wilmington (3-18, OAC 0-3) in three sets, 25-10, 25-13, 25-16, to win their third OAC match up. Mount Union continued on losing non-conference match up to Wittenberg (10-6) in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 18-25, 23-25.
Against Wilmington, the Raiders were led offensive by junior Madelin DiBease (Perry) with nine kills, while freshman setter Katie May led the way with 12 assists. Defending for Mount Union was freshman libero Alyssa Kasaris (North Royalton) who recorded 15 digs. Along with Kasaris, senior Megan Donegan (Dublin / Dublin Coffman) also logged double digit digs with 10. At the net, senior Marlee Peck (Homeworth / Marlington) and sophomore Maria Ellesin (Alliance / Marlington) both had five blocks.
In game two, junior Breanna Arnett (Peninsula / Woodridge) had a team-high 12 kills. Most of these kills came off May's 23 assists. Defensively, the Raiders had three different players with double digit digs. Kasaris led the way with 21, while May and Donegan both added 11 of their own.
Mount Union continues OAC play as they travel to Muskingum Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
