Women's Cross Country Grabs Third Place at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's cross country team placed third out of 33 teams on Friday morning at the Wilmington College Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders finished with 143 total points, 34 points behind runner-up Huntington University.  Ashland (82 points) won the event.

Junior Caitlin Goggin (Mantua/Crestwood) paced the Raiders, finishing in eighth place with a time of 18:32.25.  Sophomore Brooke Benner (Orrville/Orrville) placed 22nd (19:09.97) Jana Sleutz (Kidron/Kidron Central Christian) logged a time of 19:31.94, good enough for 32nd.

Lindsey Wilson's Sharon Ronoh (17:11.45) won the event, which featured 340 runners.

Mount Union will look to continue its success in southern Ohio when they return to Wilmington at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships in just 15 days (Oct. 27).
