NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's cross country team opened the 2017 season with a third place finish at the Ric Sayre Invitational Friday at Walsh University in North Canton.
Junior Hilary Reigle (Madison / Madison) led the Purple Raiders as she was fifth overall with her career-best 5,000 meter time of 18:23.31.
Seniors Colleen Bentler (North Canton / Hoover) and Nicole Rinaldi (Tallmadge / Tallmadge) were 20th and 21st place while sophomore Katie Durisin (Painesville / Riverside) and senior Carmen Phillips (Lisbon / David Anderson) rounded out the team scoring in 25th and 26th place.
The Raiders posted 61 points which was just two points behind second place Point Park (Pa.). Walsh won the event with 22 points.
Mount Union next runs at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational next Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
