Men's Swimming and Diving Roll Scots

ALLIANCE,Ohio - The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team used the efforts of four different event winners to roll to a 156-67 victory over the Fighting Scots of Wooster on Friday at the Hammond Natatorium.

The Raiders were led by senior Matt Carlozzi (Canfield/Canfield), winner of the 200-Yard Freestyle (2:02.80), 500-Yard Freestyle (5:00.23) and front man on the winning 400-Yard Freestyle Relay team.

"We've been working really hard in practice, and we have always struggled against Wooster, so it was great for us to come out and set the tone early. I think it will help us set the tone for the rest of the season," Carlozzi said after the meet.

Mike Greisl(South Euclid/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) also earned a pair of event wins in the 50-Yard Freestyle (22.47) and the 100-Yard Freestyle (48.82), while Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) and Raymond Balint (Columbia, S.C./Lexington) each earned victories for the Raiders, who start the season 1-0.

Coach Eric Mojock was impressed with his team after the meet.

"We swam a great meet tonight," he said. "I'm really proud of the way we have been working in practice, and it showed up, we swam amazing times tonight."

The Raiders will try to carry that momentum with them on Wednesday, as they take on OAC-rival John Carroll, 6 pm in the Hammond Natatorium.
