ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union improved to 4-0 on the season Saturday with a 156-85 victory over Ohio Wesleyan at the Hammond Natatorium. The Purple Raiders, swimming for the second day in a row, were led by sophomore Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) and senior Matt Carlozzi (Canfield/Canfield), who earned two individual wins and one relay victory each.
Brocious's solo victories came in the 100-yard backstroke (:55.78) and 200 freestyle (1:47.98) and as part of the 400 medley relay team (3:47.15).
Other members of the medley relay were Ian Perry (Perry/Perry), Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby) and Austin Moreland (Dover/New Philadelphia).
Carlozzi won both the 200 individual medley (2:02.47) and 500 free (4.57.00) and was also on the 200 free relay winner (1:31.19).
Paul Carpenter (Aurora/Aurora), Dominique Melvin (Woodmere/Orange) and Michael Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) joined Carlozzi on the 200 free relay.
Greisl (:22.77) and Zappa (:55.97) also earned wins for the Raiders in the 50 free and 100 butterfly, respectively.
On the 1-meter diving board, Tommy Pellett (Newark/Newark Catholic) scored 281.50 points to claim first place.
The Raiders will be back in action on Friday when they travel at Berea to take on OAC foe Baldwin-Wallace.
