ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 on the season by defeating Ohio Wesleyan, 140-97, Saturday afternoon at Hammond Natatorium. It was a total team effort as five Raiders earned wins on the day, led by sophomore Jennie Ciccantelli (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) who won two events.
In the freestyle events, Ciccantelli won the 500-yarder (5:31.49) and Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) touched first in the 200 with a time of 2:00.29.
The Raiders also won the 200 free Relay (1:45.88), with team members Courtney Gabel (Fremont/Fremont Ross), Elizabeth Juran (Independence/Independence), Jocelyn Gaydos (Murraysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) and Ciccantelli.
Also taking wins for the Raiders were Taylor Harrison (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) in the 200 individual medley (2:17.80) and Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in the 100 backstroke (1:03.40).
In 1-meter diving competition, Tia Marquinez (Hudson/Walsh Jesuit) took first with 329.15 points.
The Raiders will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Berea to take on OAC opponent Baldwin-Wallace.
