ALLIANCE, Ohio--The No. 29 ranked Mount Union wrestling team posted a 4-0 record to win the Mount Union Duals Saturday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders were the only team to post a perfect 4-0 record that was highlighted by a 22-15 win over nationally ranked No. 21 Wilkes (Pa.). Mount Union also had wins over King's (Pa.), 39-6, Lycoming (Pa.), 26-12 and Thiel (Pa.), 25-14.
Junior Josh Malave (Cleveland/Lutheran West) at 141 and senior Bill Schindel (Tallmadge/Akron Hoban) ranked No. 4 in the nation at 197 both posted 4-0 records on the day.
Malave scored a pair of pins against Anthony Dietrick of King's in 1:45 and Mike Klosiewicz of Thiel in :58. He also tallied a 3-1 win against AJ Fisher of Wilkes and a 7-2 win over Andrew Lewis of Lycoming.
Schindel got a pin against Matt Steltzer of King's in 4:09, then edged out a 2-1 win against Kyle Crouthamel of Lycoming (Pa.), next was a 6-1 win over Seth Gray of Wilkes and finished the day with a 5-0 shutout of Matt Mullett.
Mount Union (4-0) next heads to the Petrofes/Messiah Invitational on Dec. 3-4 in Grantham, Pa.
