ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) and Matt Carlozzi (Canfield/Canfield) won two events each in leading the Mount Union men's swimming and diving team to a 138-101 victory over Ohio Athletic Conference opponent John Carroll at the Hammond Natatorium on Wednesday.
Brocious placed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke with times of 10:27.60 and :55.83, respectively. Carlozzi claimed his wins in the 200 free (1:47.07) and 500 free (4:57.36).
Other individual winners included Ben Davies (Willoughby/Willoughby South), Mike Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin), Dominique Melvin (Woodmere/Orange) and Tommy Pellett (Newark/Newark Catholic).
Davies touched first in the 100 butterfly (:56.52) and Greisl took first in the 100 free (:48.77). Melvin added his victory in the 200 individual medley (2:09.32) while Pellett scored 300.60 points on the 1-meter diving board.
The Purple Raiders also had one winning relay: the 400 medley team. Brocious, Raymond Balint (Columbia, S.C./Lexington), Davies and Austin Moreland (Dover/New Philadelphia) combined for a time of 3:48.56.
The Mount Union men (2-0, 1-0) will return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 12, with a 6 p.m. meet at Hiram.
