LATROBE, Pa. -- Matt Carlozzi (Canfield/Canfield) won three individual events and was a member the winning 200-yard free relay team as Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated St. Vincent (Pa.), 141-120, on Saturday.
Carlozzi claimed two distance races -- the 500 and 1,000 free -- with times of 5:04.19 and 10:31.95, respectively. He also touched first in the 200 individual medley (2:06.98).
The 200 free relay team consisted of Carlozzi, Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor), Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby) and Michael Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin). It finished in 1:30.62.
Greisl placed first in two freestyle events -- the 50 (:22.72) and 100 (:49.20).
Brocious and Dominique Melvin (Woodmere/Orange) also won individual events. Brocious took the 200 backstroke (2:01.42) and Melvin bested the 200 free field (1:53.85).
The Purple Raiders' 200 medley relay squad also earned a first-place finish. Brocious, Ian Perry (Perry/Perry), Zappa and Greisl teamed for a time of 1:42.35.
Mount Union (5-1) will return to competition on Jan. 5 when it takes part in the Bob Mowerson Spring Meet in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
