(ALLIANCE, OH)--Mount Union's wrestling team, ranked No. 30 in
the nation, suffered a 32-13 defeat to Ohio Northern in the Ohio
Athletic Conference regular season dual meet finale Thursday night
at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.
Ohio Northern win the OAC title outright with a perfect 6-0 mark in
the conference, while Mount Union (4-2) finishes in third place
behind Northern and second place Heidelberg (5-1).
Mount Union got an early 7-6 lead after a win by sophomore T.J.
Arnone (Willoughby/Willoughby South) at 133 and a major decision by
sophomore Josh Malave (Cleveland/Lutheran West) at 141 but the
momentum stopped there as Ohio Northern won the next six weight
classes to take the match.
Sophomore Derrick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) was up 11-0 at 285
when he won the match on an injury default disqualification.
Mount Union next competes at the 2010 OAC Championships which the
Purple Raiders will host Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 am at the
McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
