#10 Wrestling Whips Muskingum 43-3

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- No. 10 ranked Mount Union won nine of 10 weight classes for a decisive 43-3 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Muskingum Tuesday in New Concord.

The Purple Raiders improve to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAC, while the Fighting Muskies fall to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in the OAC.

Mount Union had four pins in the match from Riki Reynolds (Marion/Pleasant) at 125, Josh Malave (Rocky River/Lutheran West) at 141, Joe Spooner (Willoughby/Willoughby South) at 157 and Derick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) at 285.

The Raiders also got a pair of tech falls from Kevin Shadrach (Parma/Parma), a 15-0 winner at 149, and Bill Schindel (Tallmadge/Akron Hoban), a 20-3 winner at 197.

Three more wins were from Colin Dennis (North Ridgeville/Lutheran West), who scored a 6-4 overtime win at 133, then a 10-5 win from John Piechuta (Alliance/Marlington) at 165 and a Chad Teague (Cambridge/Cambridge) tallied a 7-4 win at 184.

Mount Union returns home to face Case Western Reserve Friday night at 7:30 pm in The MAAC. A high school wrestling match between Coventry and Carrollton will precede the college match at 6 pm. Admission is FREE for both matches.
