ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Courtney Gabel (Fremont/Fremont Ross) broke the school record for the 50 yard freestyle, as the Purple Raiders rallied for a 142-120 win over St. Vincent (Pa.).
Gabel set the record with a time of :24.37, beating the record of :24.67 set by Renee Anderson in 2000. Gabel also touched first in the 100 free with a time of :54.89.
Taylor Harrison (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) had a big night as well, winning three events. Those events include the 100 backstroke (1:02.28), 200 backstroke (2:15.22), and the 200 IM (2:16.61).
The other Purple Raider winning multiple events was Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), who touched first in the 200 free (1:59.94) and the 500 free (5:25.14).
Katy Alkire (Akron/Firestone) won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:40.14.
The Purple Raiders (5-0, 2-0) return to action after the new year, when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. January 4.
