#8 Wrestling Clinches Share of OAC Title With 47-0 Rout of Wilmington

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The No. 8 ranked University of Mount Union wrestling team clinched at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference title with a 47-0 Wilmington Saturday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders are the nation's only undefeated team at 13-0 overall and 5-0 in the OAC. They can clinch the OAC regular season crown outright with a win next Tuesday night (Feb. 15) against Baldwin-Wallace at 7:30 pm in the regular season finale.

Mount Union swept the seven contested matches against Wilmington (1-9, 0-5 OAC).

The best match of the day was a rematch of last year's OAC Tournament final at 125 pounds as Mount Union's Riki Reynolds (Marion/Pleasant) ranked No. 4 in the nation pulled off the win again beating Donny Herrington, 5-4.

Colin Dennis (North Ridgeville/Lutheran West) at 133 and No. 9 ranked Josh Malave (Rocky River/Lutheran West) at 141 each scored a pair of major decisions then Kevin Shadrach (Parma/Parma) and Josh Cintron (Alliance/Alliance) each got pins at 149 and 157.

A pair of decisions by John Piechuta (Alliance/Marlington) at 174 and Derick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) at 285 finished off the shutout.
