ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The No. 14 ranked Mount Union wrestling team lost in a heartbreaker to No. 24 ranked Ohio Northern Tuesday in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

It was Mount Union's first home dual loss since a 32-13 loss to Ohio Northern on Feb. 9, 2010.

The Purple Raiders now stand at 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the OAC, while Northern moves to 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

Each team had a pin -- Mount Union's Josh Malave (Rocky River/Lutheran West) at 141 and Northern's Michael Pawlitz at 197, each team won five total matches but Northern got two major decisions as Mick Letcher scored a 13-5 win at 157 and Kyle Kwiat scored a 14-2 win at 174.

Mount Union got a major decision of its own at 149 in an 11-3 win by Kevin Shadrach (Parma/Parma) and decisions from Bryant Roby (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) at 133, Andy Jenkins (Stow/Woodridge) at 184 and Derick Hesson (Dexter City/Caldwell) at 285.

Ohio Northern's other two wins were a narrow 5-4 decision at 125 by Cole Cochran and a 6-0 shutout by Billy Painter at 165.

The Raiders are on the road for a pair of duals this weekend as they face nationally ranked No. 29 Thiel Friday night at 7 pm in Greenville, Pa., then Saturday at 1 pm in Cleveland versus Case Western Reserve University.
