ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Junior Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) led the men's swimming and diving team to a win in their final Ohio Athletic Conference meet, as they defeated Wilmington 110-79.
Brocious was the only Purple Raider to win multiple events. He managed to touch first in the 200-yard IM and the 500-yard freestyle, with times of 2:09.44 and 4:57.88, respectively.
Other individual winners for Mount Union were Austin Moreland (Dover/New Philadelphia) in the 200-yard free (1:53.77), Mike Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) in the 100-yard free (:48.80), and Hayden Birnbrich (Pataskala/Columbus St. Charles Prep) in the 200-ayrd backstroke (2:04.81).
In relays, the team of Brocious, Brian Ruhe (Versailles/Versailles), Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby), and Greisl won the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:40.56.
The Purple Raiders finished the OAC schedule with a record of 2-2, while improving to 5-4 overall. Mount Union returns to action January 28th, when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Penn State-Behrend. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
