ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Junior Madalyn Zalewski (New Kensington, Pa./Valley) led the Women's Swimming and Diving team to a win in their final Ohio Athletic Conference meet, as they defeated Wilmington 124-73.
Zalewski was the only Purple Raider to win multiple events. She managed to touch first in the 200-yard IM and the 500-yard freestyle, with times of 2:24.64 and 5:39.18, respectively.
Other individual winners for Mount Union were Kerry McCann (Bow, N.H./Bow) in the 1,650-yar free (19:13.69), Courtney Gabel (Fremont/Fremont Ross) in the 200-yard free (2:01.61), Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in the 50-yard free (:26.29), Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) in the 100-yard free (:56.73), and Taylor Harrison (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.44).
In relays, the team of Harrison, Allison Davila (Middleburg Heights/Midpark), Gabel, and Kolesar won the 200-yard medley with a time of 1:56.64.
The Purple Raiders finished the OAC schedule with a record of 3-1, while improving to 7-2 overall. Mount Union returns to action January 28th, when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Penn State-Behrend. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
