CANTON, Ohio --Mount Union men's swimming and diving team (1-1) split its first meet of the season against Malone ( Loss 123.5- 99.5) and Defiance (Win 174-9).
Senior Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) swam to a first place finish in the 500 yard individual freestyle (4:59.54), and was the third leg of the Raider relay that finished first in the last event of the night which was the 400 yard freestyle (3:16.69).
Freshman Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) and sophomore Hayden Birnbrich (Pataskala/Columbus St. Charles Prep ) each were victorious in their individual events, with Rundell placing first in the 200 yard individual freestyle (1:47.84) and Birnbrich a first in the 100 yard backstroke (57.09).
The Raiders return to the pool tomorrow (Oct. 26th) for a contest with Hiram, which is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
