ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Two wins by junior Rob Brocious (Mentor/Mentor) was not enough as the men's swimming and diving team fell to Westminster (Pa.), 142-116.
Brocious was the only Purple Raider to score multiple wins on the day as he was able to touch first in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:19.64 and in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:01.97.
Other Raiders winning individual events were freshman Brian Ruhe (Versailles/Versailles) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.68) and junior Mike Greisl (South Euclid/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) in the 50-yard free (:54.52).
In relays, the team of Greisl, freshman Hayden Birnbrich (Pataskala/Columbus St. Charles Prep), sophomore Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby), and sophomore Austin Moreland (Dover/New Philadelphia) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:30.32.
The Purple Raiders finished the dual portion of their schedule with a record of 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Raiders will conclude their season at the OAC Championships in the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The championships begin Thursday, February 16th and conclude Saturday, February 18th.
