ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Sophomore Courtney Gabel's (Fremont/Fremont Ross) two wins weren't enough to defeat the Westminster (Pa.) Titans, as the women's swimming and diving team lost 145-117.
Gabel was the only Purple Raider on the day to score multiple wins. She was able to touch first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of :24.43, and in the 100-yard free with a time of :54.52.
The only other Raider winning an individual event was senior Alyson Kolesar (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), who finished first in the 1,650 free with a time of 18:57.62.
In relays, the team of Gabel, junior Jocelyn Gaydos (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), sophomore Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls), and Kolesar won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.83.
The Purple Raiders finish the dual portion of their schedule with a record of 8-3 overall, and 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Raiders will conclude their season at the OAC Championships in the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The championships begin Thursday, February 16 and conclude Saturday, February 18.
