ADA, Ohio -- No. 30 ranked Mount Union's wrestling lost to #18 Ohio Northern, in an Ohio Athletic Conference Dual, Tuesday Jan. 29th, 21-17.
With its loss, the Purple Raiders fall to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the OAC.
The Raiders won five out of 10 contested matches highlighted by two major decisions that came from sophomore Bryant Roby (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) who won over junior Cody Harting, 16-5 and freshman Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Caldwell) who won over senior Jeremy Jones, 10-2.
Mount Union got three decisions from sophomore Jon Garrison (Fairlawn/Copley) at 157, senior Jeremy Regula (Dundee/Claymont) at 165 and freshman Brian Deming (Madison/Perry) at 184.
Ohio Northern (14-2, 3-0 OAC) got three decision from junior Jerome Pasquale who won over junior Brad Kress (Louisville/Louisville) 12-7, sophomore Jonathan Hoopes who won over junior Tyler Johnston, 7-1, and junior Michael Pawlitz who won over junior Nick Rajcsak (Stow/Stow) 7-6.
The Polar Bears would gain six points from a pin, #1 in division III at 174-pound senior Kyle Kwiat pinned freshman Brogan Endres (Dover/Dover) 2:34. Sophomore Cody Lovejoy would push the Bears to the win with a pin over senior Nick Terifaj (Brook Park/Strongsville) 3:52, gaining six points to overcome the two deficit going into the 285-pound match.
Mount Union goes on the road to compete in the Wheaton Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 1) and Sunday (Feb. 2) in Wheaton, Illinois.
