ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated St. Vincent (Pa.), 143-111, Friday evening at Hammond Natatorium.
Setting the pace for the Purple Raiders was senior Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) and sophomore Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake) who both took home first place honors in two individual events and members of the 200-yard medley relay team.
Mitchell won the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 1:00.64 and 2:16.46, while Swanson won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.27) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.49).
Others taking first place were sophomores Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover) who won in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:26.60 and Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass/Mansfield) were took first in the 400-yard IM (4:56.98).
The team of Mitchell, Swanson, Carly Brown (Strongsville/Strongsville), and Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hillard Bradley) took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.77.
Mount Union (5-0) will travel to Delaware, Ohio Saturday, November 16 at 1 pm to face-off against Ohio Wesleyan.
