DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated Ohio Wesleyan 133-101, Saturday night at Meek Center.
The Purple Raiders were paced by sophomore Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) who took first in two individual events and freshman Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst) who also took first in two individual events and was a memeber of a first place relay.
Rundell took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.15) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.00). While Moore took first in the 200 IM (2:00.29) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.66).
Others taking first place honors were juniors Hayden Birnbrich (Pataskala/Columbus St. Charles Prep) who took first in the 100-yard backstroke (56.01) and Joe Simpson (Hudson/Walsh Jesuit) in the 100-yard freestyle (53.91).
In relay action, the team of Birnbrich, Moore, Simpson, and Mike Zappa (Shelby/Shelby) took first place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:38.72.
Mount Union (5-1) will host Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Baldwin Wallace Saturday, November 23 at 1 pm at Hammond Natatorium.
