Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Defiance Saturday

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Defiance, 148-70, Saturday afternoon at Hammond Natatorium.

Setting the pace for the Purple Raiders was sophomore Lauren Lammlein (Canton/Hoover) who won two individual events and a relay.

Lammlein won the 1000-yard freestyle (11:28.36) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.77).

Others placing first in multiple events were Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) in the 50-yard freestyle (26.14) and the 400 IM (4:58.72), Carly Brown (Strongsville/Strongsville) in the 200-butterfly (2:35.44) and the 100-butterfly (1:06.40).

In relay action, the 200 medley relay team, Alex Hamit (Massillon/Perry), Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake), Caroline Buehl (Middleburgh Heights/Berea),and  Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley)which took first place with a time of 1:56.47. While the team of Hamit, Buehl, Lammlein, and Goldsmith took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:53.54.

Mount Union (3-0) will travel to University Heights Friday, November 5, at 6 pm for the Ohio Athletic Conference opener against rival John Carroll.
