DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated Defiance, 168-18, on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders were led by sophomore Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst) who won all three of the events he participated in as Mount Union won all but one event on the day.
Moore won the 200-yard IM and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 2:02.94 and 50.58.
Also taking individual events for Mount Union were Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) in the 500 freestyle (4:58.70), Brian Walker (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:58.63), Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.65) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.28), Alex Machovina (Amherst/Amherst Steele) in the 50-yard freestyle (23.56), and Marcus Zappa (Amherst/Amherst Steele) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.23).
The Raiders also won the 200 medley relay (1:47.47), with team of, Zappa, Moore, Machovina and Ryan Kmet (North Royalton/North Royalton). They also took first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.93), with the team of, Harrison Falconer (Canton/Canton Central Catholic), Rundell, Seth Evans (Birdsboro, Pa./Daniel Boone), and Andrew Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick).
Mount Union swept the diving action with Harrison Falconer (Canton/Canton Central Catholic) winning the 1 meter dive (156.35) and Nathan Levengood (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) winning the 3 meter dive (160.65).
Mount Union (2-1) returns to the pool Friday, Nov. 7 as they travel to St. Vincent at 4:30 pm.
