DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Defiance, 153-38, in their third consecutive win on Saturday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was freshman Jenna Kassinger (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) who won all three of the events she participated in as Mount Union won all but one event on the day.
Kassinger won the 50-yard freestyle (26.28) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.43).
Others placing first in their events were Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green) in the 1650-yard freestyle (19:03.91), Jacquelyn Jarachovic (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) in the 200 freestyle (2:02.33), Ainsley Wilbur(Stow/Stow-Monroe Falls) in the 200 IM (2:26.36), Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) in the 200 butterfly (2:24.39), Karlie Sustersic (Amherst/Elyria Catholic) in the 200 backstroke (2:26.74) and Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) in the 500 freestyle (5:36.34).
Mount Union swept the relays placing first in the 200 medley with the team of Ann Zielasko (Silver Lake/Archbishop Hoban), Peyton Kranz (Berea/Berea), Kassinger and Jarachovic (2:00.58) and the 200 freestyle with the team of, Miranda Gessner (Granville/Watkins Memorial), Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon), Sustersic, and Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville) (1:50.13).
In diving action, junior Sabrina Skelly (Massillon/Massillon Washington) won the 1 meter diving event with a score of 165.10.
Mount Union (3-0) will next travel to St. Vincent for swimming action on Friday, Nov. 7 at 4:30 pm.
