ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated Ohio Wesleyan, winning their second meet in a row, 148-9 Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders were led by junior Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) and sophomore Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele) who each won two events on the day.
Rundell won the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.75) and 100-yard butterfly (53.11) while Moore won the 200-yard IM (2:01.07) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.98).
Also taking individual events for Mount Union were Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) in the 100-yard backstroke (54.63), Logan Rogers (Hartville/Archbishop Hoban) in the 50-yard freestyle (22.36), and Marcus Zappa(Amherst/Amherst Steele) in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:32.91).
In relay action, Mount Union won the 200-yard medley relay (1:44.79) with team of Michael Branch (Las Vegas, Nev/Palo Verde), Brian Ruhe (Versailles/Versailles), Joe Simpson (Stow/Walsh Jesuit) and Matt Campbell (Louisville/Louisville).
In diving action, Mount Union swept the one-meter and three-meter dives with Brian Butterfield (Lakewood/St. Edward) placing first with a score of (166.00) and Nathan Levengood (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) placing first in the three-meter dive with a score of 196.80.
Mount Union (4-2) returns to the pool Friday, Nov. 21 as they take on Baldwin Wallace at 6:00 pm in Berea.
