ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team lost their first Ohio Athletic Conference meet to Wilmington, 104-101, Saturday.
The Purple Raiders (6-4) were led by junior Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon), sophomore Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele) and freshman Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) who each won two events on the day.
Rundell won in the 400-meter freestyle (4:22.06) and Moore won in the 100-meter backstroke (1:07.27). Fry won in the 100-meter backstroke (59.81) while each competed in the 200-meter medley relay.
Marcus Zappa (Amherst/Amherst Steele) also took first in his event finishing with a time of 9:09.90 in the 800-meter freestyle.
In relay action, Mount Union won the 200-meter medley relay (1:51.44) with team of Fry, Moore, Rundell and Logan Rogers (Hartville/Archbishop Hoban).
Mount Union looks to bounce back as the travel to Westminster Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 pm for their final meet of the season.
