ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Wilmington in an Ohio Athletic Conference meet, 130-75, Saturday.
Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was freshman Jacquelyn Jarachovic (North Olmsted/North Olmsted) and junior Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley) who each won their event today and competed in the relays.
Jarachovic won in the 200-meter freestyle (2:20.05) while Goldsmith won in the 50-meter freestyle (29.12).
Others placing first in their events were Megan Leibensperger in the 800-meter freestyle (10:05.82), Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover) in the 400-meter freestyle (4:57.21) and Abbey Jacobs (Canton/GlenOak) in the 100-meter butterfly (1:14.09).
Mount Union defeated the Quakers in the 200-meter medley relay (2:12.14) with team of Alex Hamit (Massilion/Massilion Perry), Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake), Monica Sincel (Tallmadge/Kent Roosevelt) and Jarachovic, and in the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:58.30) with team of Lammlein, Carly Brown (Strongsville/Strongsville), Hamit and Goldsmith.
Mount Union travels to Westminster Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 pm for their final meet of the season.
