UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio- Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team won their fifth straight meet of the season with a 175-119 victory against John Carroll.
The Purple Raiders (5-0) were led by Gavin Rundell (Mount Vernon/Mount Vernon) who won four events on the night. Rundell won the 200 yard free style (1:49.81), the 200 yard butterfly (1:58.81), the 100 yard butterfly (52.71), and was a part of the 200 yard medley relay win (1:37.33). Also a part of the 200 yard medley relay was Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele), Logan Rogers ((Hartville/Archbishop Hoban), Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington).
Moore also won the 100 yard breaststroke (59.92) and the 200 yard IM (1:59.82). Rogers won the 50 yard freestyle (22.60) while Fry also won the 100 yard backstroke (53.76) and the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.29). Both Rogers and Fry were included in the 200 yard freestyle relay with Matt Campbell (Louisville/Louisville) and Alex Machovina (Amherst/Amherst Steele) with a time of 1:30.18. Rogers also won the 50 yard freestyle (22.60)
Marcus Zappa (Amherst Steele) came in first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.23.
In diving action, Nathan Levengood (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) came in second in both the diving events. In the 1 meter his score was 176.15 and in the 3 meter his score was 192.55.
Mount Union's next meet is December 3rd at the Wooster Invitational.
