ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving defeated Wilmington 178-100 in their last home meet of the season Saturday afternoon.
Ten seniors were recognized for their dedicated time and hard work to the program for four years- Rose Aldo, Caroline Buehl, Jaime Eyssen, Sara Fountain, Alex Hamit, Lauren Lammlein, Kristin Leitenberger, Rebecca Oblak, Monica Sincel, and Jessica Swanson.
Leading the way for the Raiders was Jenna Kassinger (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) winning four events on the day. Kassinger won the 50 yard freestyle (26.29) and the 100 yard freestyle (57.95) in her individual events. She was also a part of the 200 yard medley relay win (1:56.14) and the 200 yard freestyle relay win (1:46.58).
Included in the 200 yard medley relay was Alex Hamit (Massillon/Massillon Perry), Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson) and Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park). Also included in the 200 yard freestyle was Ann Zielasko (Silver Lake/Archbishop Hoban), Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover), and Rose Aldo(Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield).
Aldo, Hamit and Hirsh also won their own individual events in the win against Wilmington. Hamit in the 100 yard backstroke (1:04.25), Hirsh in the 200 yard butterfly (2:24.87), and Aldo in the 200 yard freestyle (2:03.47) and the 100 yard butterfly )1:03.19).
Others placing first in their events were Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:51.73), Peyton Kranz (Berea/Berea) in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.20) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:41.92), Mallory Glenn (Bowling Green/Bowling Green) in the 100 yard IM (1:07.18), Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick) in the 200 yard backstroke (2:16.59) and Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville) in the 500 yard freestyle (5:37.55).
In diving action, Sara Fountain (North Ridgeville/Fairview) had a score of 331.15 and Leah Nice (Cuyahoga Falls/CVCA) had a score of 263.20.
The Raiders return to the pool as they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to take on Westminster (Pa.) Saturday, January 23 at 1 p.m.
