ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team lost their first meet of the season, 196-100, to John Carroll Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (3-1) were led by Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) who placed first in two events and second in one. Lautenschleger won the 500 yard freestyle (5:20.00), 1000 yard freestyle (10:51.69) and was included in the 200 yard freestyle relay second place finish (1:44.59).
Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) and Elise Pichola (Rocky River/Rocky River) also placed first and second in an event on the night. Hirsh placed first in the 200 yard butterfly (2:18.82) and placed second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.81) while Pichola placed first in the 100 yard freestyle (56.42) and second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.94). Hirsh, Pichola, and Marcy Spann (Cuyahoga Falls/Cuyahoga Falls) and was also a part of the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Others placing second were Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick) in the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.69) and Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson) in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:11.97). Spann, Hirsh, Oktavec and Saxon also placed second in the 200 yard medley relay (1:56.29).
Mount Union travels to Berea Saturday, November 19 to take on Baldwin Wallace at 1:00 PM.
