Latrobe, Pa.- The Mount Union men's swimming and diving team defeated non-conference opponent St. Vincent 151-110 Friday night for their sixth win of the season.
Leading the way for the Purple Raiders were Tyler Fry (Massillon/Washington) and Tyler Moore (Amherst/Amherst Steele) who each won four events on the night.
Fry placed first in the 100 yard backstroke (53.97) and the 200 yard backstroke while Moore placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.19) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:15.74). Fry and Moore were each included in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:28.22) and the 400 yard medley relay (3:35.37) which each placed first.
Alex Machovina (Amherst/Amherst Steele) and
Logan Palochak (Hopewell, Pa./Hopewell) were also a part of the 400 yard medley relay and the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Palochak also placed first in the 100 yard butterfly (52.77) while Machovina placed second in the 200 yard freestyle (1:50.41) and the 100 yard freestyle (49.54).
Others placing first in their events were
Brian Walker (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) in the 400 yard IM (4:25.03) and
Cole Ellsworth who placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:07.03) and the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.93).
Mount Union returns to the pool Friday, Jan. 13 against Wooster at 5:30 pm in the Hammond Natatorium.
