UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Mount Union's wrestling team took a 25-15 loss at John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual Tuesday.
The Purple Raiders finish the regular season 12-9 overall and 3-2 in the OAC while John Carroll is 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the OAC.
Mount Union won two of the first three matches but the Blue Streaks scored wins in five of the next seven matches to get the win.
Nick Mancini (Boardman/Boardman) got a tech fall at 125 pounds to give the Raiders an early 5-0 lead, but John Carroll answered with a pin from Sal Corrao at 133 pounds to take a 6-5 lead.
Mount Union retook the lead with a 9-0 major decision win from Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Caldwell) at 141 pounds which made the team score 9-6. For Border, ranked No. 10 in the nation in the weight class, it was his 99th career win.
Dan Mirman, ranked No. 2 in the nation at 149 pounds, got a 17-6 major decision win to give the Blue Streaks back the lead, 10-9.
John Carroll then won the next three matches highlighted with a pin from Jordan Victor at 165 to increase the lead to 22-9.
Mount Union's Tyler Siefke (Alliance/Marlington) grabbed a 2-1 win at 184 pounds and Aaron Page (Salem/West Branch) got an 8-5 win at 197 before John Carroll's Will Porter finished the match with a win at 285 for the 25-15 final.
The Raiders will next compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Feb. 27-28 at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. Mount Union has finished second in each of the last three regional meets.
