OBERLIN, Ohio- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team lost to non-conference opponent Oberlin, 129.5-106.5, Friday night.
Three Purple Raiders (6-3) won two events on the night including Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), Elise Pichola (Rocky River/Rocky River) and Regina Saxon (Hudson/Hudson).
Hirsh won the 200 yard IM (2:21.66), Pichola won the 50 yard freestyle (26.60) while Saxon won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:03.31). Hirsh, Pichola and Saxon were also included in the 400 yard medley relay first place finish along and Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick/Brunswick) with a time of 4:13.01.
Hirsh also placed second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.63), Pichola in the 100 yard freestyle (56.90) and Oktavec in the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.11).
Others placing second in their events were Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:35.51) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:22.36), Erin Bain (Beaver Falls, Pa./Blackhawk) in the 200 yard IM (2:26.06), Jenna Kassinger (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) in the 50 yard free (26.70), and Mary Mazey (Canton/Canton Central Catholic) in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:14.88).
Bain, Lautenschleger, Kassinger and Annie Zeilasko (Silver Lake/Hoban) also each placed second in the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:56.43).
Mount Union returns to the pool tomorrow January 21 at Wilmington at 1:00 PM.
